Homegrown Vegetables & Herbs
Premium, locally grown edible plants for our greenhouse, to your kitchen garden.
The Grow-Your-Own-Food Movement Starts Here
Growing your own food is one of the most rewarding and fastest-growing trends in gardening today. There is simply nothing like the taste of a sun-ripened tomato picked fresh from your own backyard. At Norwood Gardens, we are proud to say that nearly 100% of our vegetable and herb plants are grown right here on-site in our Brockton greenhouses.
Because we grow them locally, our edible plants are already acclimated to the Southeastern Massachusetts climate. This means stronger root systems, healthier foliage, and a more abundant harvest for your family. Whether you are planting a sprawling backyard garden, filling raised beds, or growing herbs in patio containers, our expert nursery staff will help you select the highest-quality plants for your space.
Our Premium Edible Selection
Our vegetables and herbs have many seasons, some like it cold and some like it hot. The season will typically run from April through September.
Vegetables, such as broccoli, lettuce, collard greens and many more, are very hearty and are available in April. Cole crops are perfect for early spring gardens as they can withstand the cold.
Tomatoes, cucumbers, squash and eggplant like it a bit warmer, so you will see them closer to Mid-May. Please come in and ask for help. We love helping customers plant their gardens.
- Tomatoes & Peppers: From sweet cherry tomatoes and massive heirlooms to mild bell peppers and fiery hot varieties, we grow the staples of the summer kitchen.
- Culinary Herbs: Elevate your cooking with fresh basil, rosemary, thyme, cilantro, parsley, mint, and specialty herbs perfect for container gardens.
- Squash & Cucumbers: High-yielding vining plants including zucchini, summer squash, and pickling.
- Leafy Greens: Cool-season favorites like lettuce, spinach, and kale for fresh, daily salads.
- Root Vegetables & More: A rotating seasonal selection of onions, carrots, eggplant, and other garden favorites.
Perfect for Raised Beds & Container Gardens
Raised garden beds have become one of the most popular ways to grow vegetables and herbs at home, and for good reason. They offer superior soil drainage, fewer weeds, and easier harvesting without the back breaking labor of tilling native soil. Whether you have a full backyard or just a sunny patio, our greenhouse-grown edible plants are the ideal choice for raised bed and container gardening.
Not sure which varieties thrive best in a raised bed versus a container? Our nursery staff can help you select the right plants based on your space, sunlight, and how much time you want to spend in the garden. We also carry premium soils, compost, and organic amendments to give your raised bed or container garden the best possible start.
